NHS Jobs integration and benefits

NHS Jobs Integration

NHS Jobs offers multiple ways to integrate with third party services, to both streamline recruitment and expand the reach of your job adverts.

Benefits of integration for employers

  • We fully integrate with Electronic Staff Record (ESR), saving time and effort.
  • Vacancies created in other recruitment systems can be shared on NHS Jobs to generate greater reach using our Applicant Tracking Systems Application Programming Interface (ATS API).
  • Vacancies posted on NHS Jobs can be shared across other national jobs boards. This also results in greater reach and applicant traffic, delivering savings for the NHS.
  • We support NHS initiatives by working closely with the Department of Health and Social Care, NHS England, NHS Digital, NHS Employers and other national organisations.

Benefits of integration for applicants

  • Applicants can view vacancies across multiple jobs boards, which integrate with NHS Jobs.
  • For a quick and easy experience, applicants do not need to register with NHS Jobs if applying for a vacancy via a third-party jobs board.

Employers who use ESR can link their adverts and successful applicants to ESR to automatically transfer recruitment data.
You can find more information about ESR integration with NHS Jobs from the Electronic Staff Record (ESR) integration section of our knowledge base.

The bitesize process flows for ESR integration can also be viewed in the Electronic Staff Record (ESR) integration section of the Help and support for employers webpage.

Employers can create listings in their third-party applicant tracking system (ATS) and transfer them to NHS Jobs via an Application Programming Interface (API). Applicants can then directly apply via the third-party system.

For enquiries regarding ATS integration with NHS Jobs, contact our Training and Support team at nhsjobstrainingsupport@nhsbsa.nhs.uk.

There are two Application Programming Interfaces (API) options available that allow vacancies created in NHS Jobs to be published on third party websites.

External Jobs Board API

This API has been created to enable organisations to retrieve and store NHS Jobs listings to publish on their own jobs boards.

If you're interested in using this API, contact nhsjobsservicedelivery@nhsbsa.nhs.uk to discuss this further.

Self-Serve API (XML/RSS Feeds)

This feed allows employers to display NHS Jobs listings on their own websites or intranets.

It can display the same filters that the NHS Jobs search functionality provides.

Read guidance on how to use the Self-Serve API, including the specification:

This guidance, including the specification on the final page, is subject to change and updated to reflect any recent, relevant service updates.

The NHS Jobs team have created a link to allow organisations to display their NHS Jobs job listings on their own websites or share these listings with other relevant parties.

An example is: https://www.jobs.nhs.uk/candidate/search/results?employerCode=G9914.

Replace the employer code in the above example with your NHS Jobs employer code to display listings relating to your organisation.

If you need your employer code, request it by emailing nhsbsa.nhsjobs@nhsbsa.nhs.uk.
